10 self-care tips you can try at home

As a self-care subscription, of course we've got to come through with the self-care tips to encourage you to take some time out this week!

We’ve put together a list of 10 self-care practices you can begin practicing today, from the comfort of your own home.

  1. Run yourself a warm bath. No self-care day is complete without a warm bubble bath and that's a fact. No matter the weather, baths can really help you to unwind and de-stress after a long day. Add your favourite fragranced bath salts (epsom or deep sea work a treat), light a candle and take 20 minutes to relax while you breathe in the beautiful scents that surround you.

  2. Treat yourself with your favourite hair mask. Applied to wet or dry hair, a hair mask is a quick and easy way to pamper yourself. If you've got time, jump in the shower & pop on your mask. When you get out, wrap your hair in a towel or t-shirt for 30-60 minutes before washing it off. If you're stuck for time, pop your mask on the lengths your hair whilst it's dry and leave for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. Small things like having soft, beautifully smelling hair can add a little brightness to an otherwise dull day.

  3. Read a book. We're all guilty of buying a book we've been wanting to read and just not quite finding the time to get through it. Now may be the perfect time to change that. In 10 minutes, *the average person can read approximately 2380 words. That's typically 1-2 chapters of a book! Now try taking 10 minutes a day for 7 days and you'll probably find you've ticked that book off your list without even realising it!

  4. Clean your space! Pick a room, pop some music on and set a timer for 15 minutes and clean as much as you can within that time. If you find your days are usually pretty full, this is especially helpful. You’ll be surprised how much you can get done in 15 minutes with a clock going & you'll definitely feel better in a clean space.

  5. Take a social media break. Put your phone on do not disturb or mute your notifications until the morning & spend the evening doing anything other than scrolling through socials. In that time, maybe you can try one of the other suggestions on this list.

  6. Put on your favourite feel good movie. Pick a classic from your childhood, try one on your watchlist or, if you can’t think of any you can let Netflix pick it for you with their random selection tool. Granted, they're not always the best but you may be pleasantly surprised!

  7. Listen to music for 30 minutes. You can do this while you do your skincare routine, while you put on a face mask, while you're getting dressed in the morning or whilst you lay on the bed and take a nap.

  8. Make your favourite meal. I don't know about you but food certainly brings me joy. Satisfy the sweet craving you've been having or spend time in the kitchen baking up something to enjoy alone or with your family. Alternatively, cook yourself your favourite dinner and enjoy it in your calm & serene new space.

  9. Practice some quiet or guided meditation. Meditation is great for things such as helping your brain to manage stress, enabling you to focus on the present and processing negative emotions whilst gaining new perspective for a more positive outlook. If you're new to meditation, have a look at some guided meditation videos on Youtube and follow along at your own pace.

  10. Treat yourself! Nothing says self-love like treating yourself. Whether you fancy popping to the shops and buying a new candle for your self-care night or perhaps treating yourself to a Lemonade Box - the options are endless and sure to leave you smiling.

So, what are you waiting for? Pick a few and get started today!
